Energy Efficient Lighting Technology & Links
High Performance T8 (HPT8) systems reduce energy costs compared to older T12 or standard T8 systems. The systems produce similar or more light output than standard T8s, with the same quality of light using less energy. Therefore a HPT8 system has increased efficacy (lumens per watt) when compared to standard T8 or T12 systems.
HPT8 systems are light fixtures that contain a high performance T8 lamp as defined below AND a high-efficiency NEMA Premium ballast.
High Performance T8 Lamp Minimum Specifications are as follows:
Length = 4’ (does not apply to 2’ and 3’ lamps)
Wattage = 32W
Initial Lumens = 3100L
Mean Lumens = 2900L
Lumen Maintenance Factor > 94%
Color Rendering Index (CRI) > 81
Rated Life > 24,000 hrs
When ordering light fixtures, please ensure that catalog # includes a specification for an energy efficient ballast to be included by manufacturer. For example, a Metalux fixture should include “HB81” to indicate that a high efficiency NEMA Premium ballast will be included (as opposed to standard “EB81” for a standard T8 electronic ballast).
